Ropes Course with their Mentor Families

July 30, 2011
Greenwood Challenge Ropes Course

The recent heat wave has been a “hot” news topic recently, but it didn’t curtail the fun for several IHN families and their family mentors at a recent outing at the Greenwood Challenge Ropes Course. Held on July 30th, the Ropes Course is a program of Frontier Health that encourages team building, communications, problem solving and trust.

The day began with exercises that required team building. Then it moved on to greater challenges that required problem solving and communications.

For the daring ones, the final event included putting trust in your partners that were holding the ropes while you climbed several feet into the air. It was a great day in which everyone had fun and many felt good about their accomplishments, knowing full well that they could not have done it on their own. It was another way of demonstrating our need for one another and how we all get through this world by the help of others and our need to work in community.

That’s the beauty of IHN! It’s a community of people concerned about the issue of family homelessness. Churches, businesses, service providers and others come together to address the problem. They come together in communication, problem solving and trust. In doing so, families are lifted, motivated and energized until they once again find themselves in a home of their own.
