Board Members

The IHN staff and families greatly appreciate the persons listed on this page. The Board of Directors are people in the community who have a wide variety of backgrounds, educations and professions. They give selflessly of their time, talents and resources to help in building the community of faithful IHN members, supporters and followers.
 
 Becky Allsop

Allsop, Becky

This is Becky's second year on the IHN board. She has been a coordinator for IHN at Grandview Christian Church since 2007. Becky grew up in Atlanta and came to Johnson City as a student at Milligan College where she met her husband, Kevin. After living in Johnson City for a few years, Kevin's job took them to Texas for 19 years but they returned to Johnson City in 2003. Becky retired from the Mountain States Health Alliance Information Systems department in December 2011. She and her husband have 2 children and 5 grandchildren.
 
 
 
 Sharon Amstutz

Amstutz, Sharon

Sharon, recently retired as pastor of Covenant Presbyterian Church to care for an elderly parent, is in her second year on the Board. Before coming to Covenant nine years ago she was the director of Kingsport Community Ministry Center, and has served as a hospital chaplain and pastorates in the Kingsport area. She and her husband, Jim (the IHN volunteer coordinator at Covenant) have two teenagers. In her free time you will find her reading, cooking, hanging out with her kids and walking with her two dogs.

 Paul Baggett

Baggett, Paul

Paul is faculty in the East Tennessee State University Department of Social Work. He has served the department as chair, undergraduate program director and director of field instruction. Dr. Baggett and his wife Shelly have 2 teenage sons, Jimmy and Michael. Paul attends First Christian Church where he is a middle school youth leader. Dr. Baggett has undergraduate, graduate and doctoral degrees in social work. He has been a Licensed Clinical Social Worker for 20 years. Paul has worked most extensively in mental health and healthcare. He is Executive Director of Phi Alpha Honor Society. He served on the boards of Associated Catholic Charities of East Tennessee, National Association of Social Workers-Tennessee, and Department of Children's Services Johnson City Boys Group Home. He enjoys gardening, traveling, exercising and coaching youth basketball and baseball.
 
 
 
 
 Matthew Clark

Clark, Matthew

Matthew, a Nashville native, joined the Board of IHN this year. He is a member and Elder at Watauga Avenue Presbyterian Church. He and his wife, Karen, have been married for 28 years. A graduate of ETSU, he served as Legislative Intern in the 106th Tennessee General Assembly in Nashville. He is a member and past board member of Bowmantown Ruritan with 7 years perfect attendance, and also served as The District Convention Chair of the Davy Crockett District Ruritan. Matthew is also a former member and board member of the Johnson City Community Theater, past member of the Kiwanis Club of Jonesborough, and is a licensed insurance broker.
 
 
 
 
 
 Bob Cooper

Cooper, Bob

Bob and his wife Betty B have recently moved back to JC after 38 years “on the road” in the construction business. They both were raised and received their education in JC. They are members at St John’s Episcopal Church and are actively involved in a number of local community organizations. Bob has an interest in stewardship, financial management and facility maintenance. This is Bob's second year on the IHN Board.
 
 
 
 Don Davis

Davis, Don

Don moved to the Tri-cities from the Raleigh, NC area, retiring from IBM after 36 years. Don's hobbies include Master Gardening, running marathons and traveling. Don and his wife, Cindy, joined St. Mary's Catholic Church upon moving to Johnson City and immediately became involved with Interfaith Hospitality Network as volunteers. In 2006, they became the Volunteer Coordinators for St. Mary's as support for Wesley UMC. Don serves on the Board of Rocky Mount Historical Museum and IHN.
 
 
 Stephen Dixon

Dixon, Stephen

Stephen is the CRA Officer and a Senior Vice President for Bank of Tennessee. He is a graduate of East Tennessee State University. Stephen is involved with several non-profits in the Johnson City area. He is in his 3rd year as a Board member, and serves as the treasurer. He has worked with IHN in the past by teaching basic financial education classes to the clients. He is a member of Jubilee World Outreach church in Johnson City. He resides in Johnson City with his wife Jennifer, and their 3 sons.
 
 
 
 Bob Hall

Hall, Bob

Bob Hall is Associate Director of Development at Emmanuel Christian Seminary and has held that position since March, 2010. Bob is a graduate of Milligan College (BA '82), served 10 years as a US Army officer, and worked for 27 years in leadership and management positions. Bob and his wife, Lisa, are active members at Grandview Christian Church in Johnson City, and have two grown children.

 Dan Kane

Kane, Dan

This is my third year on the IHN Board. I am a member of Austin Springs United Methodist Church where I serve as the chairperson of the Ministry Team. As a member of the Holston Conference of the United Methodist Church, I have served as the Johnson City District Lay Leader, a member of the Holston Conference Board of Laity and the Holston Conference Discipleship Team. I have served as a member of the Board of Directors of Good Samaritan Ministries, and Community Lay Director for United Emmaus. My wife Juanita and I have four children and seven grandchildren and spend part of our time at a second home in Cookeville, Tennessee. I am an Eastman Chemical Company retiree having worked most of my years in the Technical Service and Development Division.
 
 
 
 
 
 Jackie Mabrey

Mabrey, Jackie

This is my second year on the IHN Board. I also currently serve as President of the Buccaneer Athletic Scholarship Association at ETSU. I am a Farm Bureau Insurance agent, serving in the Jonesborough office. I have lived in Johnson City since 1992, moving here from Valdosta, Georgia. My husband Gary and I are members of St. John's Episcopal Church. We have both served in various leadership roles at St. John's as well as the Episcopal Diocese of East Tennessee. We both serve as IHN overnight hosts and as volunteers for the Chasing Snakes 10K Road Race which raises funds for IHN. I have a 21 year old daughter, Claire Napert and a 32 year old stepdaughter, Heather Mabrey who both reside in Johnson City. I have a 36 year old stepdaughter Megan Mabrey Tesnar who resides in Atlanta with her husband John. Gary and I enjoy ETSU athletics, traveling, watching movies, and volunteering in the community.
 
 
 
 
 Mark Matteau

This is Mark's third year on the IHN Board. He has served on the Boards of Second Harvest Food Bank of Northeast Tennessee for seven years with one year as President, with Boys to Men for three years, with one year as President, and is currently serving on the Board of Keystone Dental Care . As owner of The SleepZone Mattress Centers, Mark has been involved with IHN for many years, donating new mattress sets as needed for families transitioning to permanent housing. Mark attends Grace Fellowship Church with his wife, Emilee and their 18 year old son, Harrison. Their daughter, Alexandria, lives in Nashville.

This is Julie's second year as a member of IHN's Board. In the past, she has also spent time serving with IHN as the organization's bookkeeper. She became acquainted with IHN and its mission during her four years at Milligan College, from which she graduated in 2007 with a Bachelor of Arts in English and minors in Business Administration and Photography. She currently works as the Benefits Coordinator/Human Resources Specialist at Bank of Tennessee and is a member of Southside Christian Church in Elizabethton. Julie is excited to have the opportunity to continue to work with the IHN Board to serve the people of our community.

 Terry Welch

Welch, Terry

Terry has been involved with IHN in Johnson City since its inception, first as a volunteer worker at First Presbyterian Church and more recently as a support church coordinator at Jonesborough Presbyterian Church. A California native, he is retired after 39 years as a telecommunications engineer in Ohio and Tennessee, has been a radio amateur for over 50 years, and has resided in the Tri-Cities since 1972. Terry and his wife, Karen, live in the Boone's Creek community where they enjoy regional mission work and visits with their four grown children.
